(1) A corpus-based analysing system for Chinese EFL learners’ Errors (1996-1998, Led by Gui Shichun and Yang Huizhong, supported by the National Foundation of Social Sciences);

(2) A corpus-based analysis of Chinese EFL learners’ interlanguage (1998-2001, Led by Yang Dafu, supported by the National Foundation of Social Sciences);

(3) A descriptive analysis of Chinese EFL learners’ vocabulary use at the discourse level (1999-2001, Led by the author, supported by the Tongshan Foundation for Young Researchers in Sun Yat-sen University)

(4) Research on the Principles behind Communicative Language Teaching (2003-2004, led by the author, supported by the Sun Yat-sen University Project Fund)

(5) Communication strategies across multi-cultures and foreign language teaching (2005-2008, led by Pu Zhihong, supported by Guangdong Social Sciences Foundation).

Sep. 1987 --- Aug. 1991: offered the following courses for undergraduate

English-major students: English Intensive Reading, Extensive

Reading and Speed Reading in the Department of Foreign Language,

Henan University;

Sep. 1991 --- Aug. 1996: offered the following courses for undergraduate English

majors: English Listening and Speaking and Speed Reading in

the English Department, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

while being a Ph.D. candidate in the Linguistics and Applied Linguistics

Program in the university;

Sep. 1996 --- Aug. 2000: offered the following courses for undergraduate English

majors: English Grammar, English Extensive Reading,

Comprehensive English and Speaking and Listening.

Sept. 2000 – Feb. 2001: Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-

Champaign (UIUC) in the United States of America;

Mar. 2001 – Aug. 2004: offered the course Comprehensive English;

Sep. 2004 – Aug., 2007: Offering courses for undergraduate English majors

Comprehensive English, Extensive English Reading , Research Methods,

Modern Languages and Learning Strategies & English Semantics, while

giving courses to MA students Research Design and Statistics, Language
