  张勤远教授。1968年11月生,1998年于中国科学院上海光学精密机械研究所获材料学博士学位(师从光学材料学家姜中宏院士)。1998年7月-2000年10月任同济大学波尔固体物理研究所讲师、副教授,2000年10月-2003年10月赴新加坡南洋理工大学光电子中心作访问研究,2003年10月迄今任华南理工大学特种功能材料教育部重点实验室教授、博士生导师, 2004年入选教育部跨/新世纪优秀人才支持计划。现任华南理工大学光通信材料研究所所长,《光学技术》杂志编委,中国兵工学会光学专委会第五届常委,中国硅酸盐学会特种玻璃专委会理事。在掺稀土特种光学玻璃与玻璃光纤及光纤激光器、掺稀土光功能材料等研究方向主持国家自然科学基金重点、国家自然科学基金、教育部等应用基础研究项目数十项,研究工作先后在Prog. Mater. Sci.、Mater. Sci. Eng. R、Adv. Funct. Mater.、Appl. Phys. Lett.、Opt. Exp.等国内外有较大影响的学术期刊上发表论文120余篇,其中SCI收录110篇,论文SCI他引700余篇次,申请国家发明专利18项(已获授权7项)。2009年获首届华南理工大学"我最喜爱的导师"。
