宁波诺丁汉大学2005年硕士研究生招生简章

    英国诺丁汉大学建于1881年，是二战之后第一个获得皇家特许状的大学，名列世界大学百强，是国际著名大学团队U21的成员之一。2003年10月， 英国诺丁汉大学的两名教授分获诺贝尔医学奖和诺贝尔经济学奖。诺丁汉大学有26个系已被评为五级（国际排名最高等级），其研究水平被评为五星（世界最高等级），30个教学科目被英国教育部评为全国优等。

    英国诺丁汉大学拥有一支世界一流的高水准科研教学队伍，其中研究生课程达200多个。宁波诺丁汉大学的研究生专业课程设置由英国诺丁汉大学相关院校和研究生院提供支持，并由他们派出的教师负责执行教学计划。执教研究生课目的讲师级或以上教师都具有博士学位，教学经验丰富,在专业领域发表过大量学术文章。所有研究生课程采用英语教学。毕业生将授予英国诺丁汉大学硕士文凭。

    宁波诺丁汉大学研究生将在最后一学年的夏季在英国诺丁汉大学学习三星期，帮助他们完成论文研究准备工作。宁波诺丁汉大学负责学生的学费和英国的来回机票，学生负责在英国的食宿费用。

    一、硕士研究生招生的专业、计划

    宁波诺丁汉大学2005年计划全国招收125名硕士研究生。招生计划由两部分组成： 直接录取学制一年的研究生项目国际商务理学硕士，毕业生授予国际商务理学硕士。招生对象为非工商管理类和实用经济学类的本科毕业生。计划招生数为25名。
   
    学制两年的文学硕士和理学硕士研究生项目，其专业包括国际管理、国际商务、国际事务研究和国际文化交流与传播。国际管理的文学硕士招生对象为本科专业为管理学、 商业学、 市场管理学、 经济学、 金融和会计学等相同、相近专业的本科毕业生。国际商务的招生对象为非工商管理类和实用经济学类的本科毕业生。国际事务研究和国际文化交流与传播理学硕士的招生对象为任何专业的本科毕业生。

    计划招生数如下：
    国际商务（学制两年）25名
    国际管理（学制两年）25名
    国际事务研究（学制两年）25名
    国际文化交流与传播 （学制两年）25名

    二、研究生招生对象的申请条件

    A.热爱祖国, 遵纪守法, 品德优良

    B. 具有学士学位的本科毕业生

    注：应届毕业生可在7月提供学位证书

    C.毕业生以大学三、四年级课程的平均成绩申请。

    1）直接录取学制一年的研究生申请条件

    全国211工程重点院校的本科毕业生的平均分要求在80分以上或班级排名10%以内。非全国重点院校的本科毕业生平均分要求在85分以上或80分以上而且班级排名5%以内。雅思成绩为6.5，或TOEFL score of 573(写作不低于4.5分); 机考230 (写作不低于4.5分)

    2）学制两年的研究生申请条件

    全国211工程重点院校的本科毕业生申请两年制硕士研究生，平均分要求在70分以上。非全国重点院校的本科毕业生平均分要求在75分以上。两年制硕士研究生入学的语言要求必须达到:雅思成绩为5.5，或TOEFL 527

    注：应届毕业生可暂不提供最后一学期成绩。

    D．中国学生在著名的外国大学中获得学位可以直接申请（全部科目由英文教授），不需要提供C中所列条件。

    三、研究生招生的报名、推荐程序

    1．学校确定招生专业和计划后向社会公布招生信息。

    2． 符合报名必要条件的学生向学校提出书面申请，填写“宁波诺丁汉大学2005年硕士研究生申请表”[此表可从宁波诺丁汉大学网上下载]。

    3．报名考生须提交两份写实性的推荐材料; 一份英文自荐 信；由学校教务处盖章的大学成绩单原件；雅思成绩单原件；省级以上获奖证书、作品、论文等资料的原件和复印件; 近期免冠二寸照片四张。

    四、研究生招生报名、考试的时间安排

    宁波诺丁汉大学研究生招生的报名截止时间为4月30日.迟于截止日期的申请只有在特殊情况下才接受。采用网上报名的方式, 网上报名和查询网址:http://www.nottingham.edu.cn.
经学校决定需参加测试的申请一年研究生项目的考生，必须凭身份证参加测试（应届生还必须出示学生证）。 测试时间另行通知。宁波诺丁汉大学保留致电申请两年研究生项目的考生进行测试的权利。

    五、研究生招生的录取办法

    1．根据学生申请及推荐材料，由校方确定面试名单后通知本人。

    2．全国研究生统考中取得优异成绩的考生申请一年研究生项目可以被优先录取。

    3．对通过测试的考生，结合综合素质测评确定录取名单并报省招办备案。

    4．正式录取名单确定后，所录取学生由学校寄发录取通知书。录取名单在宁波诺丁汉大学网上公布。

    六、研究生的有关费用

    宁波诺丁汉大学2005年一年研究生项目的学费:80000元人民币/学年。两年研究生项目的学费：60000元人民币/学年。

    七、奖学金信息

    1．奖学金只提供给最后一年的学位课程学习。一年研究生项目的学生在学期开始前获得奖学金，而两年研究生项目的学生根据第一年的成绩在一学年后获得奖学金。

    2．奖学金金额：一等奖学金为伍万人民币，二等奖学金为两万五人民币。每个专业一等奖学金一名，二等奖学金两名。

    3．奖学金评选规则：申请一年研究生项目的学生以大学平均成绩、面试以及作文的综合分申请奖学金。申请一年研究生项目的学生以第一学年的学术成绩申请奖学金。

Postgraduate Recruitment at the University of Nottingham
Ningbo China 2005

The University of Nottingham, UK was established in 1881; and was the first new university to receive a Royal Charter after World War Two. The University of Nottingham is placed 6th in the UK University rankings and is consistently in the top 10 of most education rankings; it is also a member of Universitas 21, a group of elite international research universities. In October 2003, two Nottingham graduates and former professors were awarded Nobel Prizes for Medicine and Economics. Nottingham has 26 departments awarded the prestigious 5 (internationally ranked) and 5* (world class) ratings for research which clearly identifies it as a key British and European university. Nottingham has 30 subjects rated “excellent” in the national independent assessment (Quality Assurance Agency).

The University has a very large number of taught postgraduate programmes with a choice of over 200 taught masters, diploma and certificate courses. The postgraduate programmes offered by the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China are supported by the University of Nottingham’s relevant schools and Graduate School. Key teaching staff are seconded by the University of Nottingham, UK; all staff meet the standards of the University of Nottingham, UK. Lecturers or above normally possess a Doctorate or substantial research publications, and are experienced teachers. All courses are taught in English and graduates will be awarded a University of Nottingham, UK degree.

Postgraduates will spend three weeks at the University of Nottingham, UK in the summer of the final year to assist with their dissertation research.  The University of Nottingham, Ningbo China, will cover the tuition fee and airfare; students are responsible for accommodation costs.
   
A).The Plan for Each Major

In 2005, the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China plans to recruit 125 postgraduate students. The University offers two types of postgraduate programme: a one-year direct entry postgraduate degree programme and a two-year postgraduate program with Year One as a preparatory year.

In 2005, only the M.Sc. in International Business is offered as a one year direct entry degree programme. The two-year programmes are: M.Sc. in International Business, MA in International Management, M.Sc. in International Communications, and M.Sc. in International Studies.

MA in International Management applicants should have a bachelors degree in a related subject, such as management, business studies, marketing, economics, accounting and finance. M.Sc. in International Business applicants should have a bachelors degree in non-business subject (Business Studies and Applicable Finance graduates may not apply). M.Sc. in International Communications and M.Sc. in International Studies have no restriction on the undergraduate major study.

B).Qualifications Needed for Postgraduate Recruitment

A.Devotion to China, no criminal record; sound morality.

B.Applicants must be bachelor degree certificate holders.

C.Students graduating in 2005 can apply for a conditional offer based on third year subjects’ average but admission is based on the average of their final two years of study. Other graduates can apply with third and fourth year subjects’ average. In order to apply for the one-year postgraduate program the minimum average score of key university graduates is 80, or top 10% in the class. The minimum average score for non-key university graduates is 80 and top 5% of the class. In order to apply for the  two-year postgraduate program the minimum average score for key university graduates is 70; for non-key university graduates the minimum average score 75. 
   
D.For the one-year postgraduate programme qualification the minimum IELTS score is 6.5, or TOEFL score 573(no less than 4.5 in the Test of Written English) ;computer based score 230 (no less than 4.5 in essay rating) . For the two-year postgraduate programme the minimum IELTS score is 5.5, or TOEFL score 527.

E.Chinese students who have an undergraduate degree from a recognized foreign university (where the syllabuses are taught entirely in English) can apply without the qualifications listed in D and above.

C). The Sign-Up and Recommendation Procedure

I) The University decides the majors and the plan of the recruitment. They then make it public.

II) Students who possess the required qualifications must submit a written application - “2005 Postgraduate Student Application Form of the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China”. (This form can be downloaded at www.nottingham.edu.cn).

III) Applicants must provide two references; a self-statement; official transcript sealed by university registrar; IELTS test score; the original documents and photocopies of certificates for awards, works and essays.  In addition, four two-inch passport photos should be provided.

D). The Application Deadline and the Test Schedule

The application deadline is April 30th. Late applications will be only considered under exceptional circumstances. Applicants can apply online, the website address is http://www.nottingham.edu.cn. 

Applicants for the one-year programme need to attend an interview and write an essay. These dates will be publicised later. The University of Nottingham, Ningbo China reserves the right to call the applicants for the two-year programme applicants to interview.

E). The Admission Process

I) The Recruitment Committee of the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China will consider all applications and decide on the list of applicants to interview.

II) Students with very good passes in the National Masters Examination will be considered first for the one-year program.    

III) The University will then consider applicants who have passed the National Masters Examination. The Provincial Recruitment Office will also keep a record of this list.

IV)The University of Nottingham, Ningbo China will send a letter of admission to successful applicants. Students can check their application status on http://www.nottingham.edu.cn.
  
F). Tuition Fee

One-year postgraduate program
Tuition fee: 80,000 RMB per year.
Two-year postgraduate program
Tuition fee: 120,000 RMB, 60,000RMB per year.

G). Scholarship Information

I)Scholarship are available for final year degree study only: for one-year direct entry programme, scholarships are available at the beginning of the programme; for two-year programmes, scholarship are available at the beginning of the second year based on Year One results.

II) The top level award is 50,000 RMB and the second level award is 25,000. One top-level award and two second-level awards are available for each major.

III) The selection criteria for the one-year programme scholarship is university score plus interview performance and essay score. The selection criteria for the two-year programme scholarships is academic performance in the first year of study.
